Indigenous Astronomy Workshop
McMaster University, Hamilton ON, hosted an Indigenous Astronomy Workshop, 7th-8th July 2023, with an opening and closing from Elder Kathy Knott, and talks from six Indigenous guest speakers to discuss the topic of Indigenous astronomy. The engagement and interactions of those who were present – and with and between speakers – was of exceptional value.

Open my World of Learning (OWL)
The Open my World of Learning (OWL) program offers an introduction to post-secondary education to Indigenous students from BC (mainly from the remote northern communities around Prince Rupert). The program runs every summer and is jointly organized by the Tribal Resource Corporation (TriCorp) in Prince Rupert, and the Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria, Victoria. During this eight-week program, the students pursue three university level courses in business studies, performing arts and in science (astronomy). The students are also provided a variety of job and career skills. The students are housed in student residences on campus, and provided a variety of support services through the First Peoples House on campus. At the completion of the course, the graduates receive university credits in business and performing arts, and a completion certificate for the astronomy course.
